Jasmine Gomez - Austin Rocks
I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to long for SXSW. It’s possible I just need to pump the brakes on that, but March brings us THE best weather of the year. For many, it also marks the beginning of festival season. This is when the city really begins to shine; bringing customers to so many of our favorite places, packing outdoor stages for our local bands to be heard, and bringing our community together out under that gorgeous Texas sky.
Our shop, Austin Rocks, will be looking to some of our favorite 70’s icons (both men and women) for inspiration, as we fill our store for Spring 2015. This is the decade that brought us punk, glam, disco, the infamous Studio 54.
So let’s break it down with some must-haves.
Basic B’s: Girl, ain’t no shame. Grab a tissue-thin scarf and rock it loose with jeans and a t-shirt. Too hot? Floppy hat. Kimino. Accessories are the easiest way to incorporate trends into your wardrobe without leaving your comfort zone.
Party Girls: Kaftan. When you have a hangover but still want to make it to brunch, you will thank us. An all-over print is what you’re looking for. When you’re feeling better you can accessorize this bad-boy with EVERYthing.
Amazons: Please, please, please buy a pair of bellbottoms and modern platform sandal. Long, tall Sallies can rock a wide bell like no other! Denim is classic, but there are tons of leggings that are ultra-patterned like Natalie’s here. Dress them up or down, but know you will be the envy of all.
Petite Ladies: Seek out a column dress or jumpsuit with a vertical pattern. If you’re all curves, go for a larger pattern. If you’re more on the thin side, go for a smaller pattern. Either way, go colorful and bold. Leslie is 5’2 and looked like she was 5’7 in this number.
If you’re ready to rock or still in need of some tips, swing by the shop. We’d be thrilled to help you make this trend your own or flip through John Varvatos: Rock in Fashion with ya.
