2ND STREET DISTRICT TO HOST 2nd ANNUAL WHITE LINEN NIGHT ON AUGUST 2
Block Party to Benefit Austin Food & Wine Alliance
AUSTIN, TX (June 25, 2014) – Austin’s 2ND Street District is happy to announce the return of White Linen Night on Saturday, August 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. After a wildly successful debut, White Linen Night returns bigger and better, introducing a ticketed block party that will feature bites from some of 2ND Street District’s favorite restaurants, including The Bonneville, Cru, Malaga, Jo’s and more. Additionally, at the block party there will be wine pairings from Spicewood Vineyards, Becker Vineyards, Terlato Wines, and Hess Vineyards. Following the block party, this year’s official VIP after-party will be held at TRACE.
The concept for the White Linen event, which originated in New Orleans, was to get the community involved and out of the house during the long, hot days of summer. All guests are suggested to wear white while strolling the streets in the heart of downtown. New to White Linen Night is the block party that benefits the Austin Food & Wine Alliance, a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering awareness and innovation in the Central Texas culinary community through grants, education programming and events. In partnership with Austin Monthly, tickets for White Linen Night are currently on sale for $25 and can be purchased online.
“We are thrilled to be benefitting from an event that celebrates and unites Austin’s creative and culinary communities in the 2ND Street District,” said Mariam Parker, executive director of the Austin Food & Wine Alliance.
Following the block party, 2ND Street District will be hosting an exclusive after-party at TRACE for VIP ticketholders that includes access to the event, music from a live DJ, a commemorative wine glass of White Linen Sangria and dessert bites from Chef Angel Begaye. The VIP tickets are an additional $25 and can be purchased online.
Additionally, public art will be featured in free, in-store events throughout the district where no purchased tickets are necessary. There will also be an unveiling of public art that will be on display over the next year in the 2ND Street District.
“We are delighted to provide Austin incredible public art and events like White Linen Night that encourage small business, local fare and community involvement,” said Julie Sutton, retail marketing manager of 2ND Street District.
