April has a way of making everything feel hopeful again. The days are longer, the patios are calling, and downtown Austin is buzzing with fresh energy. This month at the 2nd Street District, there is a lot to celebrate. We're welcoming an incredible new studio to the neighborhood, the spring dining scene is in full swing, and our shops are stocked with everything you need to refresh your wardrobe and your space. Whether you're a longtime regular or discovering the District for the first time, springtime is a great season to come explore!
Move Smarter, Feel Better: Meet Olga Roberts Studio
The 2nd Street District is growing, and we couldn't be more excited! Olga Roberts Studio has officially opened its doors right here in the heart of downtown Austin, bringing with it a fresh, intentional approach to movement, wellness, and community. We sat down with Hannah, the general manager of the studio, to learn more about what makes this studio unlike anything else in the city. Whether you're a seasoned mover or simply curious about what Pilates was always meant to be, we have a feeling this studio is going to be your new favorite spot.
“The 2nd Street District places us exactly where we want to be: embedded in a vibrant, elevated, and movement-conscious community.”
First, tell us a little about Olga Roberts Studio. What inspired the studio, and what makes your approach to movement unique?
Olga Roberts Studio | Body Intelligence Pilates was born out of a clear need not just in Austin, but across the United States for authentic Pilates. Over time, much of the original method created by Joseph Pilates has been diluted or misunderstood.
Olga (our owner) comes directly from the lineage of Joseph Pilates, carrying forward the original philosophy and intention behind the work. She recognized a gap not only in the method itself, but in the quality of teaching and depth of understanding being offered.
The studio was created to bring people back to the real method and to provide a higher level of education, movement, and transformation through Pilates as it was truly meant to be practiced.
Your studio focuses on Body Intelligence™. Can you explain what that means and how it shapes your students’ experience?
At the core of the studio is the concept of Body Intelligence. Body Intelligence is about learning the language of your body. It teaches you how to understand what your body is doing, why it’s doing it, and how to move with intention and precision. Rather than focusing on surface-level fitness, we strengthen the true core, which is the foundation of the entire body. When that foundation is properly developed, everything else aligns: strength improves, pain decreases, and movement becomes more efficient.
This approach allows clients to not only feel better in class, but to move more intelligently in everyday life. It is about creating lasting change, not temporary results.
What types of classes or sessions do you currently offer? Are there any classes that are especially popular or unique to the studio? Are there any classes you'd like to highlight specifically?
We offer a wide range of classes across two distinct studio spaces within the same building.
-
Reformer classes
Tower classes
Reformer + Tower combination classes
Trampoline classes
Stretch classes (including stretch on the reformer)
-
Mat Pilates
Barre
Conditioning classes
Fascial release and deep stretching
Ballet
Modern and contemporary dance
Yoga fusion
Our programming is intentionally diverse, but always rooted in the same foundational principles of Body Intelligence and proper movement.
What makes Olga Roberts Studio unique from other boutique fitness studios in the area?
What sets Olga Roberts Studio apart is the authenticity of the method. We are teaching the original, hundred-year-old Pilates technique directly from the lineage of Joseph Pilates, which is incredibly rare both locally and nationally.
We are also a knowledge-based studio. This is not just about taking a class; it is about learning and understanding your body on a deeper level.
Additionally, all of our teachers come from professional dance backgrounds, bringing a high level of discipline, precision, and movement expertise that elevates the entire experience.
Your studio is located in the heart of the 2nd Street District. Why did you choose the 2nd Street District for your studio?
We chose the 2nd Street District very intentionally because we wanted to be truly in the heart of downtown Austin. The area is incredibly walkable, surrounded by residential high-rises, and seamlessly integrated into the daily lifestyle of the people who live and work nearby. It allows our clients to build movement into their routine in a way that feels natural and accessible.
We are also in close proximity to Austin’s arts and culture scene, including the ballet and other movement-focused spaces. That alignment with artistry, discipline, and performance felt very natural to our brand and our roots in professional dance.
Ultimately, it places us exactly where we want to be: embedded in a vibrant, elevated, and movement-conscious community.
What do you think makes Olga Roberts Studio a great fit for the Austin community?
Austin is a city that values health, growth, and self-awareness, which aligns perfectly with our philosophy of Body Intelligence. Our approach goes beyond fitness. It is about understanding your body, refining how you move, and improving how you live. That resonates deeply with a community that is already highly health-conscious and intentional.
Austin is also filled with entrepreneurs, creatives, and high-performing individuals. These are people who want to operate at a high level in every aspect of their lives. What we offer supports that by helping them move better, reduce pain, increase energy, and ultimately lead more effectively.
We fit naturally into both the active lifestyle of Austin and its entrepreneurial spirit.
We have created a strong, welcoming community where people feel supported and encouraged. Our teachers are not only highly trained but also genuinely kind and approachable.
The studio experience is elevated with thoughtful touches like complimentary coffee and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Plus, we will soon have an infrared sauna. We already have a cold plunge, and we will have an on-site masseuse.
It is a place where people come not just to work out, but to feel better physically and mentally.
What should someone expect during their first visit to Olga Roberts Studio? Any tips for first-time guests?
First-time visitors can expect something completely different from anything they’ve experienced before.
Because we teach the true method, it often feels surprising and even eye-opening. The work is deeper, more intentional, and more effective than typical fitness classes. Most clients quickly realize that this is not just an exercise; it is an education for their body.
Do you currently have any new member specials, upcoming events, or promotions you'd like us to share with the 2SD community?
We currently offer a $99 Intro Package, which includes two weeks of unlimited classes. If you decide to move forward with a membership (eight classes per month or more), that $99 is applied directly to your first month.
This essentially gives you your first two weeks free while allowing you to fully experience everything the studio has to offer.
In three words, how would you describe the Olga Roberts Studio experience?
Elevated. Intelligent. Transformative.
